Presented by Emmalee Rainbow and Sleezehog, Music Mends is a virtual festival with the proceeds being donated to the Stonewall Community Foundation. Featuring guest speakers and performances by Ezra Furman, Bleached, and more, Music Mends Fest will take place on Friday, March 26th at 9pm EST on ViewStub. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.
Music Mends is meant to provide a safe space for healing through art and music. 100% of proceeds from this festival will be donated to the Stonewall Community foundation that provides various resources for at-risk LGBTQ+ Americans. The LGBTQ+ community has been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and according to studies by the Human Rights Campaign, queer-identifying Americans are at greater exposure and risk of the virus than straight-identifying citizens.
Rainbow felt inspired to make a difference when first learning about these statistics. “This pandemic has been so tragic for all of us, but especially the queer community. I really hope this show brings comfort and joy to everyone who tunes in,” Rainbow said.
